Police deal with a number of incidents

It was a busy weekend for police in Douglas, with several assaults and acts of criminal damage.

In one incident a woman was struck in the face with a stiletto shoe.

Sian Cowper reports (text, below) from attached audio file:

In the early hours of yesterday morning a man and woman were assaulted in the upstairs area of the Hilton Hotel. Both received facial injuries but neither required medical treatment.

Earlier in the weekend a man was head butted in the face in an incident in broad daylight in the area around Villiers Square. It happened around 4pm on Saturday after he had been in an apparent argument with his attacker.

Then yesterday morning an assault took place close to the TT Stop cafe on the Prom in which a woman suffered injuries to her jaw after she was attacked with a stiletto shoe. The assault took place around 1.15am and her attacker is described as being white with short dark curly hair, and wearing a red coloured dress.

Vandals were also out. Sometime between 4pm on Friday and 12.30 on Sunday, damage was caused to a bus shelter on Glencrutchery Road, when a side pane of glass was completely smashed.

Anyone with information on any of the incidents is asked to ring Police Headquarters on 631212.
