A 15 year-old boy was the victim of an unprovoked assault in Strand Street, Douglas on Saturday.
Police say he received hospital treatment for a head injury after the incident, at about 10.30pm.
They say it was "a particularly unpleasant and unprovoked attack on a young boy" by older men, and the impact on both the victim and his family should not be underestimated.
Police are appealing for information from people who were in the area at the time and particularly want to speak to anybody who saw a silver coloured Ford Focus, with four or five people inside.
The numbers to ring are Police Headquarters in Douglas on 631212, or the anonymous Crimestoppers line, 0800 555 111.
