Police identify man found dead in Douglas

Male confirmed as 43-year-old local

Police have now said the death of a man who was found in Douglas on Monday evening is being treated as 'unexplained'.

He's been identified as a 43-year-old local.

Officers say they are currently not releasing the name as the next of kin are still being informed.

Police are still conducting enquiries and can now state that six people were arrested on the evening of 8 April, near to the scene where the deceased male was discovered.

Those six individuals have assisted police with this enquiry and have now been released.

This comes 48 hours after his body was discovered on Back Marina Road, behind the Gaiety Theatre.

What we know so far

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 7pm on Monday to reports of an 'unresponsive male'.

The roads in the area were cordoned off, a cordon which has now been reduced to the alleyway where the incident happened.

The death is still being treated as unexplained.

Police have offered their condolences to family and friends and have asked people to continue to avoid any speculation as the investigation continues.

Officers have thanked the public for their cooperation in this matter.
