A number of people have fallen victim
The scammers are contacting victims via email. It claims to be from their boss at work suggesting they purchase a gift card as a surprise for a colleague.
In some cases the sender's email address is almost identical (often only one letter different) to that of the purported sender.
The advice is to always double check any requests with your boss using a known alternative contact method, to ensure you don't become a victim of the scam.
