Police need more information on serious assault

Police are appealing for more information about an incident in which a man suffered a broken neck.

It happened around 1.45am on Sunday, September 19, in the area of Moby Dick's takeaway, close to the Hilton Hotel.

Officers say a large number of people were in the area at the time and two blonde-haired women are known to have seen what happened.

A third woman, thought to have been wearing fancy dress and with a black teardrop painted under her left eye, was another witness, along with a man who is described as being smartly dressed, around 30 and with dark hair.

Police are also hoping to identify two taxi drivers, one who stopped at the incident and flashed his lights to try and stop the assault . . and another who may have picked the suspects up.

Meanwhile, officers are looking for more information on an earlier incident at around 1.30am in Whispers Bar.

They would like to speak to a woman who alerted security staff.

Anyone with information is asked to ring Police Headquarters on 631212 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line, on 0800 555 111.
