The Isle of Man Police have come out in strong support of workers in pubs and clubs.
It follows the Licensed Victuallers Association statement about a spike in aggressive and abusive behaviour towards staff.
The Police will release figures on assaults in the coming days.
Chief Inspector Allan Thompson believes anyone assaulting bar staff should face a prison sentence.
And he says one of the causes has had plenty of publicity of late.
