Make sure you report crime, even if it’s a relatively minor matter.
That’s the message from police who say they are 'very pleased' with a two per cent reduction in offences over the last six months, compared with the same period in 2009.
There was also a 13 per cent fall in cases of criminal damage, although police accept the accuracy of their statistics as an absolute record of crime on the Island is dependent on how man people report offences against them.
Chief Inspector Simon Lowe says, with that in mind, it’s important to let them know about low-level crimes, as well as the more serious ones:
