Police warn of scam

Callers asking for card details for HMRC payment

Police are warning Island residents to be aware of another scam doing the rounds.

Officers say they've received information recently of someone purporting to be from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) telephoning an island resident demanding outstanding owed money.

Credit card details were requested to obtain payment.

Fortunately, the person contacted refused to provide such details and the call was ended.

As always, the advice is NEVER to divulge your personal banking or credit card details to cold callers.

Neither the Isle of Man Income Tax Department nor HMRC make such phone calls in this manner.
