Pollution still an issue

Water pollution in the Isle of Man is still an issue according to last year's River Pollution Report.

Over half of the cases reported in 2011 were unsubstantiated, however the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture relies on the public's help to find, solve and prevent problem areas on the Island.

The annual report is available on the DEFA website, which details the different kinds pollution and ways to detect them.

Despite people sometimes confusing contamination with natural phenomena, DEFA's freshwater biologist and wnvironmental protection officer, Dr Calum MacNeil, says you should always report anything unnatural:
