Port Erin Commissioners have new glamping plans

Open day to be held to see site plans

Port Erin Commissioners are hoping to establish glamping facilities on the outskirts of the village, in a bid to boost tourism.

The local authority has purchased land with the intention of constructing a camp-site, glamping, space for motor-homes, toilet and shower facilities, along with a welcome centre.

No official plans have been submitted yet.

Chairman Nick Watterson says 'a great location' has been chosen which can offer both traditional camping options but also 'five star rated glamping'.

"It's a countryside location but only a short walk from Port Erin, and will benefit not just the village, but the wider area".

Members of the public are being invited to view plans for the site at an open day on 6 December between 2pm and 8pm.

Residents will be able to make any comments or suggestions on what's being proposed, before the Board then submits a formal planning application.
