Prescriptions, domestic violence, and education to feature in Tynwald

Manx Parliament meets after Easter Break

The Island's parliament meets this morning (17 April) for the first time since the Easter break.

The issues of prescriptions charges, domestic abuse and visitor figures are all set to feature in Tynwald.

With twenty questions for oral answer and twenty five items of business on the order paper, members have plenty to discuss on their return.

Three separate MHKs have questions on the contested results of a recent passenger survey.

MLC Kate Lord-Brennan will raise the issue of domestic violence, whilst Bill Shimmins MHK will ask about the quality of IT education in schools.

Motions include the approval of the National Health and Care Service Act, which includes an increase in prescriptions fees, as well as plans for a committee to investigate poverty.

You can view both the Tynwald order and question papers online via the Tynwald website.

To listen to the sitting, you can tune in to Manx Radio's AM1368 frequency from 10:30am, online and via our smartphone apps.
