Presents donated to charity in memory of former Borough Warden

Douglas Councillor and staff honoured to continue the tradition

Douglas Council staff have given Christmas presents to charity, for children who may not have received gifts otherwise.

It's in memory of former Borough Warden Michael Cowin who used to donate toys and gifts to Housing Matters each year.

Council Leader Claire Wells says it was an honour to continue the tradition.

She said: "Mike was a colleague with a heart of gold and is much missed. Every year he would donate and deliver toys to the charity which make a massive difference to so many families who, for a variety of reasons, are less fortunate than most.

"It was our honour to continue this tradition as his colleagues donated toys in his memory.

"Housing Matters were overwhelmed with the number of gifts and asked could they be shared with other charities that assist families in need, such as the Foodbank, and make Christmas that little bit brighter for those children who may not otherwise feel the Christmas spirit."
