Manx Gas managing director Tony Nicholls says the latest price hikes for natural gas and LPG are 'absolutely necessary', following global increases in costs.
From February 17, natural gas and LPG tariffs will be 0.53p and 1.15p a unit higher, respectively. The changes will apply to all metered tariffs, mini bulk and cyclinder tariffs.
It means natural gas will cost nine per cent more, and LPG users will face bills which are over 14 per cent higher.
John Moss asked Mr Nicholls if, in the present tough economic times, it would have been possible for the company to absorb those increases:
