School's extension plans on display

Facelift due for cramped Douglas primary

Plans to give a Douglas school a £3.8 million facelift go on display to parents, pupils and the public today (17 May).

A major extension's planned for St Mary's RC primary school, adding classrooms, a new hall and disabled access.

The school's designed for a maximum 275 pupils, but numbers are around 300 -and facilities are now too cramped.

A two-storey extension would add four new classrooms and a revamped hall for with partitions, for dining, sport and performances.

The proposals going for planning approval include better access to the school car park, new windows and doors, and a new roof.

There's a chance to view them in the school this afternoon from 3-7pm.
