Primary schools in party mood for Royal Wedding

Children in the Isle of Man are getting spruced up in their best party clothes for their Royal Wedding celebrations today (Thursday).

Local primary schools have been getting in the spirit of tomorrow's big event at Westminster Abbey, with themed lessons and competitions all week.

And this afternoon several schools, including Kewaigue, Willaston and Manor Park, are holding street and garden parties.

At Ashley Hill the whole school has a parade to show off the crowns, flags and bunting pupils have been making, followed by a picnic.

Cronk-y-berry school is holding a wedding service in the main hall, complete with readings and hymns, and there is a playground street party in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, youngsters at Victoria Road, Scoill Phurt le Moirrey and St Thomas' will be dressing in red, white and blue to celebrate and, to top off the week, Foxdale School is holding a community party tomorrow, with games, stalls and music, and the wedding on a big screen.

Manx Radio's Elizabeth Cubbon will be visiting some of the schools this afternoon, and you can hear from the party-goers on this evening's Mandate PM, from 5.30.
