Project delay will be stitch in time

Contractors tackle underground issues

Castletown's regeneration project is due back on schedule next week, after a short delay forced by problems underground.

Work in the town's main square was held up last week when contractors reported issues with buried electric cables.

The town's MHK Richard Ronan says remedial work had to be carried out before the main project could continue, to avoid long-term problems later on.

He has dismissed suggestions building materials have been delayed arriving on the Island. 

The work timetable is due to resume as normal on Tuesday.

Mr Ronan says the bigger picture - a revitalised town centre - remains intact:
