The deteriorating state of Douglas promenade is being addressed.
The last major reconstruction of the prom took place in the 1930s, and Infrastructure chiefs say while it has lasted well, without any major maintenance or refurbishment, it's now beginning to detract from the quality of the street scene.
Minister Phil Gawne says the road surface is uneven and badly cracked and gives a shabby and downtrodden first impression to visitors, in contrast to Douglas Corporation's sunken gardens.
He recognises the present, tough economic climate, but says government still needs to invest in basic infrastructure:
Island's finances 'in a better position than most other jurisdictions'
Completion of assisted dying bill 'the most significant moment of 2025'
Keep dogs away from Garwick Beach for next few days
Cost of sending a letter on the Island to increase in January
