
The closure of two well-used libraries in the Island is very sad, but inevitable in the current economic climate.
That from Education and Children Minister Peter Karran after announcing the department can no longer afford to run the Family Library in Douglas and the Mobile Library.
Mr Karran says both are nice-to-have but non-essential and, to avoid damaging cuts in schools, had to go.
The news broke with Friday's confirmation 11 pre-schools will close in the summer, along with Bride School in the north.
The cost-saving cuts were leaked ahead of next week's Budget.
