PRoWL questions warden's role

The Spokeman for a local pressure group says he's totally against the idea of a warden for Langness.

Ian Costain from PRoWL (Public Rights of Way Langness) is unimpressed with the suggestion, which is one of a number of recommendations in a report which will go before Tynwald next week.

The report has been written by a Tynwald committee charged with the task of settling a rights of way dispute between land owner Jeremy Clarkson and local ramblers.

Mr Costain says it's unclear what the warden would do and told Manx Radio:

"However hard you read the report it is difficult to be certain what exactly the warden would be there to do.

"There's talk of how there would be no more barbed wire installed on this particular section of Langness, in exchange for the service of the warden.

"So is the warden just there as a replacement to barbed wire, to make sure that nobody goes more than a foot away from the very limited range of footpaths that are there already?"
