The Port St Mary Harbour Improvement Scheme has moved a step closer with the appointment of a project manager.
The Department of Transport has announced the work will be carried out by Hyder Consulting (UK) Limited, and headed by their Technical Director, Ian George.
He's been involved in a wide range of marine and civil engineering projects over the last 16 years and had experience of the village's harbour when he was involved in building the IRIS attenuation tank next to the base of the Alfred Pier in 2001.
The department says work on the scheme is expected to commence shortly so necessary information will be gathered and made available to the public early next year.
