Public has say on vision for digital future

Some residents wary of switch to online services

Island residents have given a mixed reaction to the government's new digital strategy - which promises to transform public services and reach out to those who have yet to embrace the Internet. 

Ministers' vision for a major expansion of automated services won overwhelming support in Tynwald this week.

The government says its digital strategy will streamline services, making them simple, more convenient and cheaper to operate.

From health and social care to tax and benefits - in future we'll be expected to do business with the authorities online.

But although there's a commitment to include all parts of Manx society, the strategy pledges not to disadvantage those who choose not to use digital services.
