Laxey, Lonan and Maughold could join forces
A public meeting next week could see the beginning of the end for three local authorities – who want to create a joint board.
Laxey, Lonan and Maughold commissioners would merge to become Garff under the proposals to be discussed at 7pm next Wednesday, October 7, at Laxey School.
Andrew Moore, chairman of Laxey Commissioners, says the three bodies already share a number of services and combining functions would save cash.
And he says the proposals are an alternative to the much-touted “Four plus One” plan for local authorities put forward by government:
