Public service media debate outcome delayed

Combined vote due in Tynwald next month

A decision on how to proceed with public service media in the Isle of Man has been delayed until January.

It's after Tynwald's voting on a report on the matter stalled last night, as the House of Keys and Legislative Council were in disagreement over an amendment put forward by Ayre and Michael MHK Tim Baker.

He's asked for a combined vote, which will take place at the January sitting of the court.

His amendment rejects the recommendations of the Tynwald select committee report, and calls for the Council of Ministers to negotiate a better deal with the BBC, and for Manx Radio's board to come up with a more sustainable funding model.

During the debate, Mr Baker explained why he was doing this.
