The idea of a second national day for the Isle of Man is being referred to the Council of Ministers' Governance Committee.
It was proposed by North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson, following talks in the United Kingdom to scrap May Day and replace it with another holiday such as St George's Day or Trafalgar Day.
Mr Henderson is suggesting a day to celebrate Illiam Dhone or another Manx worthy and in the House of Keys today (Tuesday) asked Chief Minister Tony Brown to impress on the committee that he believed it was of 'paramount importance' for the Island's culture and heritage that such a day took place.

The Isle of Man's national day, Tynwald Day, is celebrated on July 5.
Illiam Dhone Day would be January 2, marking the date the Manx nationalist was executed at Hango Hill, Castletown in 1663.
