Pupils celebrate joy of reading

School children across the Island have been celebrating World Book Day, a popular annual event designed to foster a future generation of book worms.

Primary pupils have been dressing-up as their favourite book characters, writing stories, reading, swapping and selling books for good causes.

Scoill Vallajeelt in Douglas is supporting the Manx Blind Welfare Society's Book for Life appeal, to buy a new range of audio titles for its library.

Year 5 and 6 children have been recording their own stories to donate to the charity's audio bank.
