QE2 team through to semis of Spirit of Innovation Challenge

 

A team of sixth form students from QEII High School in Peel has won a place in the semi-final of a prestigious global competition founded by the late Apollo astronaut, Pete Conrad.

 

The "Spirit of Innovation Challenge" is an annual competition run by the Conrad Foundation in the USA which offers budding entrpreneurs a chance to develop their new products or ideas.

 

The finals take place April 6-8 in Houston, Texas.

 

Teams from the Island's high schools have been sponsored by Manx company ManSat for the last four years.

 

Team Victrix from QEII has been developing an idea to spin aircraft wheels prior to landing, saving heavy wear on tyre tread.

 

Andy Hopkinson and Joel Harrop from the team say they've been working hard on the idea which they hope will see them through to the final in America:
