Question paper dominated by VAT issue

The VAT issue is set to dominate the early part of this month's Tynwald sitting, with two MHKs lining up to ask more than their share of questions.

Michael member David Cannan and Peter Karran (Onchan) each have a number of items on the changes to the VAT sharing agreement, and the repercussions for the Island.

In total there are 28 questions for oral answer and a further four for written reply, with around 10 of the oral items to do with the VAT issue.

Elsewhere, Mr Karran has a few queries for Health Minister Eddie Teare about the treatment, care and rehabilitation of drug addicts on the Isle of Man.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson has a trio of questions on possible changes to the Employment Act, for Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney.

Mr Cannan is due to question Mr Teare about a United Kingdom NHS document which was featured in a local newspaper article last week.

And Peel MHK Tim Crookall wants to know if the DoT will provide detailed estimates for linking Peel and St John's to Crosby and the IRIS scheme.
