Queues at pumps as diesel prices increase across Island

Average of 185.9p per litre - a 50p rise

There are lengthy queues at petrol stations across the Island this afternoon (30 March) as fuel prices have increased.

The general price for diesel appears to be 185.9p per litre - up from 136.9p per litre or 137.9p per litre last week.

It follows reports from the UK that the price difference between diesel and petrol there has reached its highest level since at least 2003.

According to the RAC, the average price of a litre of diesel rose to almost 1-pound-80 on Sunday - 28 pence more than petrol costs.

Oil prices have surged in recent weeks due to the conflict in Iran - sparking a rise at the pumps.
