Rail travel and pensions to feature in House of Keys

Five questions from two members for oral answer

Rail travel, rehabilitation of offenders and collecting pensions are some of the topics that will feature in this morning's sitting of the House of Keys.

There are five questions for oral answer at this week's sitting.

Just two MHKs have topics tabed for question time at this week's House of Keys - Arbory, Castletown and Malew member Jason Moorhouse and Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper.

Mr Moorhouse asks the Home Affairs Minister whether Manx rehabilitation rates are measured using the same method as the UK, and is seeking information from the Chief Minister about the promotion of Manx athletes.

Mr Hooper will quiz the Infrastructure Minister about rail travel on the Island, as well as seeking a statement from Ray Harmer on the housing pilot schemes.

The Ramsey member believes shorter journey times could make the tram an attractive option for those heading to work during peak times, particularly as government looks to get people out of their cars:

Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan will be asked about the future of the collection of pensions should these services be withdrawn from the Isle of Man Post Office.

You can follow Manx Radio's coverage of this week's sitting on AM 1368, online or via the smartphone apps from 10am.
