Rain disrupts jubilee celebrations

The weather is playing havoc with some of the events planned for today's jubilee day holiday.

The Andreas Parish Picnic in the park has been postponed until tomorrow (Sat) at 2pm, whilst the Jubilee celebrations in Maughold that were going to take place in Ballaglass Glen today are now going to be held undercover in Maughold Church Hall from 2pm.

In Castletown the Scarlertt Road Street party has been cancelled.

In Ramsey the Manx model boat club pageant at Milntown lake .. part of the celebrations for Ramsey national week has been postponed.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations at St Johns are going ahead. German and Patrick parishes have come together for the event the commissioners say the decision to go ahead despite the dreadful weather was influenced by the Queen's day long river pageant which was held in driving rain!

The programme and venues may be altered as required but events will get underway with a Church service at St Johns at 2pm and proceed as the weather allows.

The Michael Community Fun day IS still going ahead at 2pm with the crowning of the jubilee queen but is now indoors in the Community room and sports Hall at Michael school.

Crosby Band will be playing and there will be fencing and karate displays to say nothing of line dancing.

Unfortunately though the parade by the fire station has been cancelled.

The Jurby Parish Hall party is going ahead as planned at 3.30pm
