Increase in waste disposal charges behind increase
Ramsey commissioners have agreed to a three per cent rate rise for the next financial year.
Ratepayers will have to pay an extra 12 pence in the pound come April, which means those in a three-bedroom house will have to pay an extra 28 pence a week.
A rise in contributions at the Northern Civic Amenity site and in gate fees at the incinerator have been blamed for the increase, as well as inflationary costs.
The new rate will now be 411 pence in the pound, up from 399 pence.
