Vice-Chair Sandra Cottam-Shea hopes residents went home 'happy'

Ramsey Commissioners says it's 'pleased' with how the first of its public accountability meetings went.

About 15 people were in attendance and the meeting, which was also livestreamed, with questions ranging from the Northern Civic Amenity Site to the farmers' market.

The meetings were introduced by the local authority in an attempt to make its operations more 'accessible' and 'transparent' for residents of the town.

Vice-Chair Sandra Cottam-Shea and board member Juan McGuinness want to see more people attending in the future and believe more residents will attend as the meetings become more well known:

Dot Price, who runs and is the treasurer for the Ramsey Farmers' Market asked the commissioners about extending operating hours and supporting the town's producers.

She said her concerns came about following a previous commissioners meeting and appreciated the opportunity to put her concerns forward:

A resident from Andreas was also in attendance and said he went along to try to find out more about the Northern Civic Amenity Site.

He told the commissioners he wants to see the re-use shed opened again and believes the site isn't being 'managed properly':

Under the commissioners' standing orders, two public accountability meetings will be held a year - one in between January and March and a second between July and September.
