Commissioner Juan McGuinness intends to stand in September
Ramsey's first candidate has announced their intention to stand in this year's general election.
Juan McGuinness has been a town commissioner there for the past ten years.
He says now is the right time to take the next step, saying he cares deeply about making Ramsey the best it can be.
Taking to social media, he says: "In my day to day work I’ve spent nearly 20 years in compliance within the financial services industry.
"It’s a role built around standards, accountability, and asking the right questions.
"It’s the same approach I’ve taken to my role as a commissioner and one I would continue to take at a national level."
The election is taking place on Thursday 24 September.
