Record start in fine weather for MGP



There's been a record-breaking start to racing to this year's MGP.

In a hectic morning, with four races being run concurrently, Tim Venables won the Newcomer's A Race setting a new lap record of 117.8 miles per hour on his first lap. Sean Anderson came in second and third was Norway's Seb Buch.

Michael Dunlop streaked ahead in the Post Classic Senior Race to win with a lead of two and a half minutes over Scotland's Mark Buckley and a fastest lap of 119.97, just shy of his aim of completing a lap of 120 miles per hour. Third was Gaff Martin

Michael told Chris Kinley he could have gone faster.

Johnny Heginbotham came home first in Newcomer's B with a new race record of 1 hour 24 minutes 15.4 seconds. Second was Lee Derbyshire and third Tom Llewellyn.

Local man Chris Palmer won the Post Classic Junior Race with Phil McGurk second and Barry Davidson third.

There was a serious accident at Bishopscourt on the second lap involving Ollie Linsdell. Organisers haven't yet released details of any injuries.
