The Isle of Man's new Deputy Chief Constable says his force has to reflect the community it's policing.

Superintendent Gary Roberts will take up his new position on January 1.

He joined the police in 1984 and says he has seen many changes since then.

Superintendent Roberts (pictured) says trust in neighbourhood policing is considered vital by the police, but he accepts officers sometimes have to operate on apparenetly contradictory levels:
