Renewed calls to return killer back to high security prison

Peter Newbery serving life sentence for 2002 double murder

The family of a teenager who was murdered over 20 years ago on the Isle of Man is renewing a call to send his killer back to a high security prison in the UK.

Peter Newbery killed 16-year-olds George Green and Samantha Barton in 2002 and was jailed for life two years later with a minimum term of twenty years.

Yesterday, Manx Radio understands, he was again denied parole.

"We can't get over the fact that they've gone, until he talks to us." - Shirley Klieve, sister of George Green

George's sister Shirley Klieve says her family have asked to meet with him to understand his motivations, but he has repeatedly refused:

Manx Radio has approached the Department of Justice and Home Affairs for a statement.
