Replacement for retiring head teacher announced

A new head teacher has been appointed at Ballacottier Primary School.

Carol Walsh will become only the second head in the school's history when she succeeds John Rhodes in September 2011.

Mrs Walsh currently holds the same position at at Marown Primary School.

She taught in Oldham and Leyland in the late 1980s, before spending ten years working in senior management within industry in the United Kingdom. She returned to the Isle of Man and education in 2001 when she taught at Laxey and Arbory schools.

Mrs Walsh says she is very excited to be joining Ballacottier School and looking forward to continuing the excellent work of Mr Rhodes and his team.

She has also thanked the people of Marown for all their support during her time at the school there.
