Rise in sextortion emails on Isle of Man

Police issue advice following rise in messages demanding money

The Isle of Man Constabulary say there's been an increase in reports of sextortion emails targeting local residents.

The sender demands money from the recipient to prevent personal videos or information being released.

Manx officers have shared a link to UK police agency Action Fraud, which provides more information on this type of scam and what to do if you receive such a message.

Those who see this kind of message in their inbox are advised to report it as phishing to Action Fraud, while anyone who has paid money is urged to speak to their local police station.
