Roads closed by police

Road condition update 4.40pm:

Barrack Street in Douglas is closed for its entire length onto Church Street which is closed from its junction with Athol Street and Lord Street.

Mona Street and Christian Road are closed due to the icy conditions.

If you’re heading south, the advice is to use the Kewaigue Road as traffic is flowing more freely.

There is now two way traffic between the Anagh Coar traffic lights and Spring Valley roundabout.

Traffic on Douglas Promenade and on Lord Street is now moving more freely.

Summerhill Road in Onchan has now re-opened.

Prospect Hill in Douglas is not passable.

Traffic is very heavy throughout Douglas, in particular Circular Road and Peel Road, as well as Woodbourne Road and Bucks Road.

Richmond Hill is now open in both directions but proceed with care.

The Ballamodha Straight, Malew, is described as ‘very bad’.

Foxdale is also ‘very bad’ as is the road from Anagh Coar Traffic lights up to Spring Valley crossroads.

Crellins Hill in Douglas is closed as vehicles have collided with barriers at the bottom.

Elsewhere, Stevenson Way in Douglas is described as treacherous and the area of the Quarterbridge and Ballcraine are ‘bad’.

There’s reports of vehicles stuck on Creg Willey’s Hill.

The road between Douglas Road Corner Kirk Michael and Ballacraine Corner is closed due to snow and ice.
The Brandywell Road, which reopened following a previous closure a week ago today (Friday), is once again impassable and out of use.
The Mountain Road is still passable with care.

Meanwhile, the emergency services are urging all drivers to take care and adjust their driving to the road conditions.

Sub-zero termperatures are forecast overnight.
