Rob Callister has been appointed Chair of the Planning Committee.
He takes over the role from David Ashford who is the chair of the Housing and Communities Board.
Commenting on the appointment, Chief Minister, Alfred Cannan said: "Building great communities and having an environment we can all be proud of are two pillars of Our Island Plan. The Planning Committee has a crucial – and sometimes difficult – role to play in this, determining applications that will shape our landscape and communities. I know Mr Callister will chair the Committee with fairness and objectivity.”
The Onchan MHK says: "Planning matters are often emotive. The role of the Committee is act impartially to ensure developments are aligned with planning policy as approved by Tynwald. I look forward to working with members of the Committee in fulfilling this duty.”
