Ronaldsway impacted by Easter break travel issues

Delays and cancellations as UK airports struggle with staffing levels

Some flights in and out of Ronaldsway have been subject to delays and cancellations as airports over in the UK struggle with demand over the Easter break and reduced staffing levels due to Covid.

Certain airlines have been cancelling more than 100 flights a day.

This morning's 7am Loganair flight to Liverpool, which many were relying on to visit the Grand National in Aintree, was cancelled late last night after the incoming flight was halted by technical problems.

Meanwhile passengers on an easyJet flight to London Gatwick yesterday were sat waiting to depart on the runway for roughly an hour after Ronaldsway's air traffic control was closed - reportedly due to a lack of staff.

Many flights today are due to depart later than scheduled - the 9:30am Loganair flight to Manchester has been pushed back to 2pm and the afternoon flights to Birmingham and Manchester are also delayed by around two hours.

Wythenshawe Amateurs, due to face FC Isle of Man at the Bowl this evening, are caught in delays at Manchester Airport but are due to arrive on Island shortly after 3pm.

There are currently no plans to change this evening's 6:30pm kick off time.
