RTLC report - drivers aren't declaring convictions

Road Transport Licensing Committee to submit report to Tynwald

The Road Transport Licensing Committee says public passenger vehicle drivers aren’t telling all about their criminal convictions.

The body which regulates buses, taxis, minibuses and coach drivers will submit its annual report to Tynwald later this month.

In it, chairman Keith Watterson says the committee had to grill 26 drivers about their convictions over the past year: and most of those hadn’t informed the committee as they’re supposed to.

The report notes some offences were driving related, such as speeding, while others convictions or cautions didn’t.

Despite its worries, the document shows the committee didn’t refuse a single application made to it over the past 12 months.
