Concerns of future outbreaks due to Indian variant
The education minister insists the mitigations in place at Island schools are 'robust', following concerns over the spread of the Indian variant of coronavirus in the UK.
At the beginning of March, cases thought to be the Kent variant spread through the Island's schools, leading to government enforcing what it called a 'firebreak' - closing them down with just a day's notice.
Dr Alex Allinson has also assured that the risk of infection and serious illness from Covid-19 is 'remarkably low' in children.
But, following fears that history could repeat itself as border restrictions are eased, he says the Island's educational facilities are staying prepared:
