Balla bully seen kicking a girl in the head

An Island high school says 'immediate action' has been taken after a video emerged of one of its students being assaulted by another.

The footage was shared on social media last night, appearing to show a girl having her hair pulled, before being kicked in the head and pushed to the ground.

Police are also investigating the incident involving Ballakermeen High School students and have offered the victim support.

After mass condemnation online, the video of the assault - which took place outside of schools grounds - has prompted a swift response from both Ballakermeen and the Isle of Man Constabulary.

In a statement, the head teacher says she has 'imposed the strongest sanction on the perpetrator' - with discussions now set to take place between the school and officials at the Department of Education.

She goes on to describe the 'shock' and 'outrage' caused by the recording, and insists action will be taken to minimise the risk of future occurrences.

Officers are urging members of the public to avoid speculation regarding the video whilst their invesigations are ongoing.

If you have any information on this incident, you're asked to call police headquarters on 631212.
