Sci-fi style poster promotes food hygiene

A 50s 'B movie' style poster with the slogan 'It came from the chopping board' is being used to promote the current National Food Safety Week.

The theme of the 2008 'GermWatch' campaign is food hygiene in the home, and the dangers of food poisoning.

It's seen as a major problem which costs the economy in England and Wales over £1.5 billion a year, with double the number of cases in the summer months.

Food Safety Manager Ivan Bratty says most cases of food poisoning occur in the home (audio file attached):

Staff from the Island's Food Safety Unit will be offering advice on food hygiene and handing out guidance leaflets, stickers and balloons at the Tesco store in Douglas on Saturday.
