Dr Rachel Glover seeking a seat in the House of Keys
The scientist instrumental in setting up the Island's covid testing regime is to stand in this year's House of Keys General Election.
Dr Rachel Glover, founder of Taxa Genomics, has declared her intention to stand as a candidate for Onchan.
She says she wants to increase the quality of life for everyone on the Island, listing 'families, the economy, housing, and healthcare' as some of her priorities.
In what she describes as 'the starting point' of her manifesto, Dr Glover says: "I am tired of watching real problems get strategy documents instead of a measurable solution with named accountability.
"I am standing because I believe this constituency and this Island need a representative who combines genuine scientific and economic expertise with a clear commitment to fairness, and who has already demonstrated what that looks like in practice."
The other candidates to have declared for Onchan are Julie Edge, Rob Callister and Gabriella Corkish.
The election takes place on Thursday 24 September 2026.
