The Scottish Government has offered urgent talks after the introduction of new bye-laws banning much of the Scottish scallop fishing fleet from Manx waters.
They were introduced a fortnight ago after some Manx scallop beds, which had been spawned to try and provide sustainable fishing, were stripped bare.
The ban has outraged Scottish fishermen but SNP MSP for the South of Scotland, Alasdair Morgan, has welcomed his government’s call for talks.
He says he’s been in regular contact with local skippers and the Cabinet Secretary in an effort to find an acceptable local solution.
