Scottish pupil charged with coming to the Island to run scam

16-year-old faces drug and fraud allegations

A pupil at a prestigious Scottish public school has been bailed over claims he came to the Island to run an electronic scam.

The 16-year-old appeared alongside 22-year-old Connor Robert McClung of Avendale Crescent in Armadale before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

Mr McClung is facing two allegations he produced and possessed drugs, and both are charged with possessing articles to use for fraud.

Prosecution advocate Roger Kane said the pair had been spotted getting off the ferry at Douglas Sea Terminal.

Officers arrested the pair and seized a number of electronic devices from them, including smartphones and a laptop.

They discovered lists of bank details and phone numbers, along with messages about buying SIM cards on the Island.

Mr McClung made no bail application and was remanded in custody until his next appearance on 17 February.

The teenager was granted bail on condition his mother pays a £2,500 surety and is due to appear on the same date.
