Search dog finds more than £90K in car's secret compartment

Liverpool woman admits concealing criminal property

A Liverpool woman has admitted concealing more than £90,000 in a secret compartment in a car.

Thirty-six-year-old Sheila May Starkey, of Mark Street, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.

She attempted to remove criminal property on 22 March – the court heard police and customs officers stopped her as she was waiting for the ferry.

They searched the car after their dog indicated it had found something in the central console of her VW CC.

Ten bundles of cash were found which had a total value of £92,610.

Starkey was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing – she was remanded in custody until her next appearance on 13 May.
