Secret no confidence vote would be 'unlikely'

Chief minister to face opinion of peers in the House of Keys

A secret ballot for tomorrow's (Tuesday 29 October) motion of no confidence in the chief minister would be 'unlikely', according to an expert on Manx public law.

Members of the House of Keys will decide whether they think Alf Cannan is fit for the job.

While it won't be legally binding, questions would have to be asked about his leadership should it succeed.

But, after rumours some MHKs wanted to vote in secret, Professor Peter Edge says it would be 'unusual':
